Kaytee Brown
Kaytee Brown (she/her) is a Seattle-based artist, colorist, and writer. She is the creator of “Nimue,” a short comic set in an alternative Arthurian legend, where Excalibur’s fate is changed…by a sandwich. It will appear in the Destinations Anthology.
In addition to the Destinations Anthology, Kayteehas pieces appearing in the anthology Sharp Wit and the Company of Women from Extra Pages Press as well as Under the Stars: A Sci-Fi Romance Anthology. She is the colorist for the ongoing Kickstarter series Ruination from Curious Perspective Comics and has recently joined the team for the latest Boston Metaphysical Society series by Madeleine Holly-Rosing. Currently, Kaytee is working on getting more of her own stories and comics into the world.She is expandingthe pitch of her Destinations story—”Nimue”—into a serialized comic for kids and parents alike.
Here's a tidbit from our long-form interview with Kaytee:
What kinds of things do you draw creative inspiration from?
To be perfectly honest, the reason it’s taken me so long to finish this interview is because I have been hung up on this question. I don’t so much seek out inspiration so much as it slaps me in the face when I’m supposed to be thinking about something else. I think when you spend your day creating, it opens your mind to getting creative input from anywhere and anything—kind of like exercising a muscle, but the muscle is…imagination?
A young Mary Shelley encounters an occult scientist, Dr. M, and a living book of spells, Necro (The Necronomicon), who accidentally split her into two versions of herself—
One, the literary giant who goes on to write Frankenstein. The other, a supernatural girl, Shel, who spends her immortality fighting evil humans who exploit monsters.
After befriending Necro (a cute powerful version of the Necronomicon) and rescuing Frank, one of Dr. M’s experiments, Shel starts a school for misunderstood monsters near Lake Geneva.

She has no memory of her past, no explanation as to why she has magical powers or why she must hide her newfound peculiar white demon wings from society. About "Never Say Boo"
"Never Say Boo" is L.K. Ingino's short comic in the DESTINATIONS Anthology!
It's a darkly humorous story about a man who finally gets what he's wanted since he was a kid…but now he has to figure out how to tell his lifelong friends that they were wrong all along! It's not as easy as it sounds…
This short comic was written by L.K. Ingino, illustrated by Jorge Luis Gabotto (aka Hiorsh), and edited by Chuck Pineau.

Our contributors to the DESTINATIONS Anthology are amazing. As we've mentioned, we've been interviewing them about their work.
But one creator, David Lee Andrews of Comic Book and Movie Reviews, took things one step further. Or maybe…one step less far?
He interviewed himself about his short comic, "Sharon"! And the results are hilarious.

How would you describe your story?
I would normally describe my story with the use of words, but as I'm a silly sod, I think it would be best to describe it with emojis instead. These emojis... 🌴💂⚔😠🍼🤣.
OUR HERO, Tomathan, survives as a 'Peeter' -- a thief who steals bags off moving carriages. When Tomathan and his crew of orphaned 'lost boys' pilfer a bag from the royal doctor and find a real live fairy inside -- Tomathan refuses to give the creature back to the cruel man -- making him the target of every Thief-Taker and soldier in London. Can Tomathan and his crew of street rats outsmart the corrupt Thief-Takerand evade the King's soldiers long enough to escape to theNeverland?
